Winter Hair Care Advice From Ian McLeod Hairdressers In Sutton Coldfield

Now we’re coming into the colder months of the year, your hair will probably be feeling dry, static, frizzy and not its usual smooth and shiny self. To combat the effects of central heating and the cold temperatures of winter that put stress on the hair and scalp, we have put together a list of our favourite tips and products to help you achieve healthy hair this winter. 

1.    Dry Scalp - Avoiding frequent and unnecessary hair washes is key. To stretch washing it for a couple of days you could either try an ‘up do’ such as a loose plait or pony tail or you could try using a dry shampoo. Our salon favourite is Kevin Murphy Fresh.Hair (A dry shampoo that gives body and texture, removes odours and excess oil. Suitable for all hair types, especially fine hair.)

2.    Static - To fight static avoid tight woolly hats which encourage static and also cause hair breakage. Leave-in conditioners tame static in hair. Always choose the one most suitable for your own hair type. 3.    Broken/Damaged/Dry Hair - A top tip is to make sure hair is completely dry before going outside as cold air expands the hair shaft making it prone to breakage and colour fade. Committing to a weekly hair mask can keep your hair healthy, hydrated and promote shine while repairing the hair shaft.
